Release Notes For 2012.04

Accuro©EMR is the most recent version of Accuro available. The reason for no version number is because Optimed is going to a more regular release schedule to avoid large annual releases. Optimed is now offering 6-week updates to all customers. This means that roughly every 6 weeks we will provide a release in the form of “Update Accuro” which you can run at your convenience. Note that once you update one of your computers, all of your computers will need the update run.

The release notes below are dated. When you apply the update, you will receive all changes since your last update. To find the last date you updated, login to Accuro and click Help > About > Details.

Billing

Macros in Claims

An update has been made so that a user can no longer apply a macro to a bill if it has been submitted, invoiced or paid to prevent reconciliation issues when payments or responses are received.

Encounter Notes

Copying and Pasting Bullets in Notes

An enhancement has been made to that when a user copies a bulleted list from one note to another; the bullet format is now also copied along with the text.

Generate Letter

A Generate Letter button has been added to the bottom of the letter editor. When pressed the letter is closed and saved (the same as pressing OK) and then the letter generation window is opened. This saves users from having to save the letter in the encounter notes and then right-clicking and selecting generate letter. To access letters select the EMR icon > click the Encounter Notes tab > click the down-arrow in the Clinical Notes section > select a letter from those listed.

Open Note from Encounter Summary

In the F3 window there is a tab called Encounter Summary. This displays all clinical notes for the patient fully expanded ordered reverse chronologically. The new anhancement is found underneath each note; a link labelled "Click to Open Clinical Note...". Click this to open the clinical note for editing. There is also an option to show the Encounter Summary tab as part of the EMR section. This option is user specific and can be found in File > User Preferences > Display > EMR Workflow tab > Show Encounter Summary Tab.

Tracking in EMR

In the EMR section, Encounter Notes tab, there is a new area of the screen in the bottom left called Tracking. The Tracking area is there to allow users to enable a summary of outstanding items including unreviewed labs, CDM worksheet types, preventative care recalls (Ontario only), and outstanding tasks. When you first see the Tracking area, nothing will show by default until enabled. To enable this (user specific), click the gear icon in the Tracking title bar. Click the Enable Tracking checkbox. Labs will be displayed as the only one you can see initially. To add others (tasks, CDM, preventative care), press the green + button. Press OK when done. Now your EMR is configured for tracking.

The Tracking area shows each category name, a count of the number of items in each, and a magnifying glass icon. Click the magnifying glass icon to see the items in each category in a tooltip pop-up. Click again anywhere to close the view. In the views, the blue text is clickable to open the item. Here is an explanation of each category:

Faxing

Incomplete Phone Numbers when Faxing

When faxing through the Virtual Chart and Generate Letter the fax number field is checked to ensure the fax number has the correct number of digits. If the number of digits is not correct then a warning message is displayed. To fax from Generate Letter select the EMR icon > click the Encounter Notes tab > right-click on appropriate item and select Generate Letter > to fax click the Send Letter button at the bottom of the window.

Labs

Letter Attachments: Lab Summary

When generating a letter in Accuro there is the ability to add attachments. This is done using the green plus button found in the attachments area of generate letter. When attaching, a list of everything in the chart is available for selection. New to Accuro in this release is the ability to attach your lab results formatted in to the layout of your custom lab summaries. Scroll to the bottom of the attachment selection window to see this. Lab summaries are configured in the EMR > Encounter Notes tab, lab summary area; click the 'manage' option in selection list to create a new lab summary view.

Locating Patients in Lab Inbox

When using the locate patient option in lab inbox, a check is made to see if the selected labs contain patients with different name and carecard numbers. If so, a warning message will be displayed. Labs can be accessed by selecting the Home icon > double-click the Labs folder.

Reporting

The Private Payment Summary report has been updated because step 8 was overlapping onto step 9. No functionality in this report has changed. To access reports from anywhere in Accuro press Ctrl+R.

Scheduling

Recurring Appointments

If a user creates a recurring appointment where the number of appointments being created is more than 10, the following message is displayed: “You are about to schedule X appointments. These appointments are created individually. If you need to remove them in the future, you will have to do so one at a time. Are you sure you would like to continue?” Appointments can be created by selecting the Scheduler icon > right-click and select Create Appointment > the Recurring link is at the bottom of the window.
