Release Notes For 2012.02

Accuro©EMR is the most recent version of Accuro available. The reason for no version number is because Optimed is going to a more regular release schedule to avoid large annual releases. Optimed is now offering 6-week updates to all customers. This means that roughly every 6 weeks we will provide a release in the form of “Update Accuro” which you can run at your convenience. Note that once you update one of your computers, all of your computers will need the update run.

The release notes below are dated. When you apply the update, you will receive all changes since your last update. To find the last date you updated, login to Accuro and click Help > About > Details.

Billing

Appointment Ad-Hoc Billing Macros

For clinics that need to apply an unknown combination of procedure codes to a claim ad-hoc billing macros have been created. These are similar to regular macros except that they cannot be pre-setup since there are too many procedures combinations that are billed together. The ad-hoc billing macro is a one-time macro that is applied to appointments.

To access the ad-hoc macro follow the procedure below:

1. Click the Scheduler icon.

2. Double-click the appropriate appointment to open the Appointment Details.

3. Click the Ad-Hoc Billing Macro button (located to the left of the OK button) or press Alt+M. The Ad-Hoc Macro window is displayed.

4. Type in the appropriate procedure codes.

5. Click OK to save. The window is closed and the user is returned to the Appointment Details window. The Ad-Hoc macro button displays a number corresponding to the number of procedure codes added in the ad-hoc macro window.

6. Click OK to save your changes. The Appointment Details window is closed and the user is returned to the Scheduler. Items added via the Ad-Hoc macros can be viewed on the Daily Claims tab.

Billing Cut-Off Period Message (SK)

The warning message displayed when a user tries to submit close to the cut-off date and time has been updated to say:

“This billing period has now ended. During the 24 hours following the end of a billing period, the submission website is not available. Submitting claims during this time is NOT recommended.

The submission website will be available again <date>

If you have been explicitly instructed by MCIB to submit your claims during this down period, then you can attempt a submission by click Yes. If you have not been instructed that the submission website is available during the normal downtime, it is recommended that you click No and wait until it is scheduled to be available.

"Would you like to continue? “

This message has been updated to remove any confusion that may have been caused by the previous message.

Claims Payment Period (MB)

An update has been made to ensure that if there is more than one received time on a given date for claims responses, then a date only appears once in the Payment Period list.

Immediate Payment by Insurer (MB)

A new checkbox has been added to Insurers, “Prompt for Payment” the default for this checkbox is on. When the Prompt for Payment checkbox is turned off the user is not prompted for payment when saving a bill against this insurer in the Claim Details window. To access the “Prompt for Payment” checkbox click Billing > select Manage Insurers > select an Insurer > click the Edit button (looks like a pencil) > the Prompt for Payment checkbox is at the bottom of the Insurer window.

Payment Details Report (SK)

An update has been made to the Payment Details report; it now shows the insurer the payment was recorded under instead of the current bill’s insurer. Reports can be accessed from anywhere in Accuro by pressing Ctrl+R.

Encounter Notes

Outstanding Lab Requisitions in Encounter Notes

In the Lab Summary section of Encounter Notes “Requisitions” has been changed to say “Outstanding” and the text color has been changed to bolded back. The Lab Summary can be accessed by selecting the EMR icon > click the Encounter Notes tab > The Lab Summary section is located at the bottom of the window.

Faxing

Faxing Out From Accuro (2-way interface)

The outgoing faxes sent from Accuro through Microsoft Fax (MS Fax) have now been extended to be two-way. This means users can now view the status of their outgoing faxes directly in Accuro via the “Fax Queue” rather than having to go to the specific machine that has MS Fax Console installed. Previously faxes in Accuro used to say “sent” meaning that they had been sent to MS Fax, no further status updates were available. Now faxes in the Accuro Fax Queue will display the current “live” status of the fax (e.g. pending, sent, failed) the same as can be seen as in MS Fax. The Fax Queue can be accessed by clicking the Faxes link at the bottom-left of the Accuro window.

Labs

Logging of Lab Patient Matching

Audit logs have been updated so they now track the manual lab patient matching.

Virtual Chart Lab Grouping

An update has been made to the Virtual Chart, when there are multiple labs received on the same date for the same patient; the labs are all grouped together no matter who the provider is. The Virtual Chart can be accessed by selecting the EMR icon > click the Virtual Chart tab.

Other

New Release Notification

The first time a user logs in after an Accuro update has been installed a message informing the user that Accuro has been updated since their last use of Accuro and to check the update notes to see what is new is displayed. For users not wanting to see this message every time an update is installed, there is a checkbox, “Do not show me this again”, that can be selected.

Prescriptions

Triplicate Drug Exemptions (AB)

An update has been made so that when a drug is flagged as triplicate the DIN is checked to see if it is in the exemption table. If the DIN is in the exemption table then the triplicate flag for the prescription is turned off. If you require DIN’s added to your clinic exemption table please contact Optimed.
